About The Role

At New Story, we pioneer solutions to end the global housing crisis by empowering families to become land and homeowners in thriving communities.

We believe innovative approaches are crucial to achieving this mission at scale, and we are committed to tackling the systemic barriers inherent in affordable housing and financial inclusion for underserved populations.

The Tech Ops Manager will manage the implementation and improvement of digital tools that support our core operations and ensure reliable monitoring and reporting of information.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring our systems drive outcomes for both customers and our internal teams.

Your work will help frontline teams operate more effectively, surface the data we need to make smart decisions, and ensure our tech tools are always in service of our mission.

You’ll work closely with all the internal teams, project partners, and software vendors to ensure our systems deliver real value to the communities we serve.

The ideal candidate combines technical fluency with strong operational instincts and a deep belief in technology as a lever for social impact.

You care about usability, performance, and data integrity equally.

If you’re excited to use technology and systems thinking to solve one of the world’s biggest challenges, we want to hear from you.

Where You’ll Focus

Digital Transformation & Systems Building

  • Lead the digital transformation of our field operations today and build a playbook for future growth.

  • Design, build, and implement the initial lightweight tech stack for field data collection and customer management (e.g., tablets, form builders, flexible databases) to replace current paper-based processes.

  • Develop a long-term technology roadmap that starts with immediate, practical solutions and scales towards a more integrated, enterprise-grade vision.

  • Ensure all systems are field-ready, user-friendly, and successfully adopted by a non-technical team, requiring hands‑on training and in-field troubleshooting.

Applied Technology & External Integrations

  • Leverage core platforms to deploy and manage tech-enabled tools that improve communication and interactions with customers.

  • Design and manage processes for tracking customer loan payments within our systems, accommodating multiple sources from cash collections to digital payments.

  • Oversee the integration between our operational field systems and central accounting systems, ensuring data flow for financial reconciliation and reporting.

  • Coordinate data exchange and system integrations with external partners, such as financial institutions.

Data Management & Analytics

  • Establish a data-driven culture by developing a data strategy from the ground up, championing data governance and quality.

  • Pool data from disparate sources into a unified view and leverage data analytics tools to build dashboards that track key operational metrics and inform strategic decisions.

  • Go beyond internal data by identifying and integrating relevant external datasets (such as macroeconomic, geospatial, census data) to enrich our analysis.

  • Train field teams on data hygiene and system use to ensure data accuracy and consistency across all project sites.

Innovation and Cross-Team Collaboration, Automation & Support

  • Actively engage with the broader technology ecosystem, including fintech, proptech, and social impact communities, to identify emerging trends, tools, and potential partners.

  • Act as the main bridge between our operations, leadership, and external tech providers.

  • Work with across the organization to ensure the systems you build align with our strategic goals.

  • Set up clear troubleshooting protocols and ensure frontline teams have the tech support they need to succeed.

Who You Are

  • 4+ years of hands‑on experience in tech/product operations or systems implementation, with a track record of building systems from scratch.

  • Demonstrated success at a high-growth, operations-heavy company, with experience supporting field-based or non-technical teams.

  • Skilled with modern, lightweight, low-code/no-code tools and BI/analytics platforms.

  • Proactive, curious, and mission-driven, with a comfort for ambiguity, ability to adapt to on-the-ground learnings, and willingness to be hands‑on or troubleshoot on-site.

  • Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to manage fast-paced priorities and external relationships.

  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English.

  • Willing to travel up to 25‑40% during initial project phases.
