Join Félix as a Staff Software Engineer on our dedicated Fraud team , where you'll play a pivotal role in building and enhancing our defenses against financial crime.
This position demands a blend of deep technical expertise and a keen understanding of fraud typologies.
You will be responsible for architecting and implementing advanced, data-driven systems that proactively identify and mitigate risks across our platform.
Your leadership will be crucial in shaping our technical roadmap, fostering innovation, and ensuring our solutions are not only highly effective but also scalable and maintainable in a rapidly evolving threat landscape.
This role is open to all candidates in Latin America.

Responsibilities
- Lead Risk Platform Development: Drive the entire technology and platform development for the company's risk needs, ensuring a functionally rich, reliable, and high-performance.
- Own Architecture & Strategy: Take full ownership of the Risk platform's technology and architecture, collaborating closely with Engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Innovate & Elevate Solutions: Continuously challenge the status quo, setting a high bar to deliver superior technical solutions that comprehensively address all risk requirements.
- Strategic Partnership: Work closely with leaders in Risk Product and Risk & Compliance to gain deep business understanding and collaboratively develop effective technical solutions.
Demonstrate strong thought leadership and partnership.
Provide effective guidance and coaching on engineering principles and best practices, ensuring productivity, high quality, and timely delivery.
- Ensure Operational Excellence: Guarantee reliable production execution of the Risk Platform with robust observability, providing clear visibility to all partners.
- Leverage Data & AI: Partner with Data, AI, and other Risk leaders to effectively leverage the Data Platform and AI Platform for critical risk needs.
- Seamless Integration: Collaborate with solutions architecture, product, and engineering teams to ensure the Risk Platform is seamlessly integrated, delivering reliable and high-performance execution across all products and systems.
- Shape Technical Vision: In partnership with the Engineering teams, drive the technical vision and strategy for Risk, balancing immediate needs with long-term objectives.
- Foster Technical Excellence & Culture: Set a high technical bar, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to engineering teams on principles, skills, and best practices.
Cultivate an inclusive, productive, and engaging Risk group that attracts top industry talent, guiding leaders within your group to do the same.
- Strengthen Security & Reliability: Partner with security and SRE organizations to continuously improve security, meet SLOs, and effectively manage error budgets.
Requirements
- 3+ years in Fraud Prevention: Direct, hands-on experience in fraud prevention, detection, or mitigation within fintech, financial services, or a similar industry.
You understand fraud schemes, attack vectors, and the best practices for managing fraud risk.
- 10+ years in Software Development: A senior-level engineer with a proven track record of designing, developing, and deploying software at scale.
- Risk Platform Architect: Extensive experience in the risk domain, including the architecture and development of Risk platforms.
You have a strong grasp of Data, ML, and AI, and know how to apply these technologies to solve complex risk challenges.
- System Design & Scale: Designing distributed systems, handling high-throughput real-time processing, and architecting for scale (millions of transactions/day).
- Sharp Tech Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze large datasets to identify patterns and trends, and to resolve complex problems.
Must be proficient on ML frameworks, real-time databases, and fraud-specific tools such as FICO Falcon, SAS, etc.
Must be proficient in Python and SQL.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and fraud analytics tools is a significant plus.
- Regulatory Compliance: Solid understanding of PCI DSS and SOX compliance requirements.

You'll be instrumental in architectural decision-making and will lead by example in our rapidly evolving environment.

- Effective Collaborator: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to partner seamlessly with cross-functional teams, articulate findings clearly, and influence strategic decisions.
- Self-Driven & Accountable: A self-starter with excellent judgment, comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking initiative in dynamic environments.
- Flexible & Responsive: Adaptable to changing priorities and able to respond to critical fraud risks, which may occasionally require working outside standard business hours.
- Current Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of fraud detection tools, machine learning models, and industry best practices, including familiarity with fraud modeling or behavioral analytics.
- Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
A Master’s or PhD is a plus.
- Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level or higher is required.
These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered.
