About the role As a Senior Backend Platform Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the core components and libraries that power our robust, scalable software platform.
Your work will directly impact the efficiency, reliability, and growth of our technology, supporting both internal teams and millions of end users.
You’ll have the opportunity to drive innovation, set best practices, and help shape the future of Zillow’s platform.
You Will Get To: Implement new features and enhance existing functionalities to optimize platform performance and reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
Build and maintain internal tools that empower developer productivity.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle: code reviews, testing, monitoring, and deployment.
Ensure the platform supports multiple applications and brands through robust, maintainable solutions.
Contribute to and help define best practices for systems design, testing, and code quality.
Continuously learn about the business and share your ideas for improvement.
Support a culture of innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position.

Who you are 5 years of software development experience with Java, focusing on APIs and services.
Skilled in both relational and non-relational database strategies.
Proven experience building and managing scalable backend systems, including authentication services, datastores, and CI/CD pipelines.
Proficient with modern development technologies for both front-end and back-end systems.
Recognized as a technical leader with impact beyond your immediate team.
Passionate about raising the bar for code quality, maintainability, and best practices.
Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
Must be authorized to work in Mexico.
