POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Engineer supports new product development for the company’s Thermal global products.
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the physical design and/or thermal system design of new products. This engineer must be a practical hands-on type of engineer who can start with an abstract concept and see it through to product launch.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates/modifies mechanical Parts/Assemblies/drawings in CAD systems, such as Creo and/or Solid Edge.
- Create and maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct BOM’s based on options selected by the customer.
- Works with Marketing, Manufacturing, Service and Quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all of their needs.
- Assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and providing guidance when issues arise.
- Gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.
- Understands the products, suggest ideas and improvements.
- Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.
- Coordinate performance testing in the lab.
- Analyze test data, diagnose issues and determine changes to improve performance.
- Thermal system modeling to determine performance and correct part selection.
- Determine controls routines needed to make system operate optimally and to meet customer requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products and safety.
- Basic mechanical CAD tools experience- Solid Edge, Creo, Solid Works.
- Experience with Sheetmetal, piping and assemblies is a plus.
- Data-entry systems familiarity - Oracle, Agile, etc.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically.
- Detail oriented.
- Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to work in the lab or production facility to diagnose and solve problems.
TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED
- Regular travel between Office/Lab and the production factory (both in Monterrey) and minimal travel (<5%) to customer sites.
