We are looking for a Cost Optimization Engineer with experience in power electronics to join our Vitality Engineering team.
This role focuses on analyzing and improving existing electronic products by identifying opportunities for cost reduction, design optimization, and component sourcing efficiency.
The position requires strong collaboration with design, supply chain, manufacturing, and procurement teams.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Analyze existing products, components, and designs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support cost optimization efforts through value analysis / value engineering (VAVE).
- Evaluate Bills of Materials (BOMs) to propose component substitutions or redesigns.
- Develop and implement cost-effective engineering solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Work with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure component availability and sourcing alignment.
- Monitor lead times and conduct LLT (Long Lead Time) risk analysis for critical components.
- Interface with suppliers and design teams to propose new materials or technologies.
- Participate in the development of new products with focus on cost, manufacturability, and ease of sourcing.
- Document and report cost reduction initiatives and project progress.
Skills And Minimum Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or equivalent).
- 3+ years of experience in power electronics (analog domain).
- Strong knowledge of power converter topologies: AC/DC, DC/DC, Flyback, Buck, Boost, LLC, etc.
- Experience working with BOMs, component sourcing and cost optimization strategies.
- Familiarity with VAVE methodology.
- Ability to analyze component availability and market trends.
- Experience working with suppliers in global environments.
- Advanced English (verbal and written).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot), Power BI, Minitab or similar tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred).
- Willingness to travel occasionally to other design or production sites.
