DigiTS Data Science & Business Intelligence team is a crew of data engineers, data scientists and analysts who work on safeguarding against harmful content and conduct that threatens human rights, human wellness, and Microsoft’s reputation and legal obligations.

As a Data Analyst II , you’ll be responsible for producing reports from data sets originating across Microsoft’s broader consumer business, to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations such as Europe’s Digital Services Act (DSA) and UK’s Online Safety Act (OSA).

You’ll work closely with policy makers, legal experts, product managers and external partners to ensure that DigiTS solutions are aligned with Microsoft’s values and standards, as well as the needs and expectations of Microsoft’s customers.

Responsibilities

• Apply in-depth knowledge of the business to proactively anticipate questions and develop data frames and analytical solutions required to meet Microsoft’s legal and transparency requirements related to content moderation.
  
  
• Guide the production of legal, compliance and regulatory reports.
  
  Validate that data meets regulatory requirements and governance rules; ensure activities and results align with principles and controls.
  
  Identify and address impact of updated regulations on work activities and outcomes.
  
  
• Apply expertise to data sources and determine optimal methods for integrating data.
  
  Address business questions and guide teammates on solutions.
  
  
• Share insights and analytical expertise to tell stories of analysis through dashboards, reports, and internal forums.
  
  Partner cross-functionally to advise on experimental design and inform sharing methods for insights.
  
  
• Identify and promote methods that create efficiency in core work and socialize reusable, self-service data and insights for decision makers.
  
  Understand relationships between analytical models and coach junior engineers as needed; present results to senior stakeholders.
  
  
• Leverage cross-team relationships to ensure alignment and drive adoption of data sources and analysis practices.
  
  Maintain expertise in privacy requirements and address impact of updated guidance on work activities and results.
  
  
• Promote methods that create self-service analytics and clear data interpretation to drive business decisions.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years of experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
• OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years of experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
• OR equivalent experience
• Fluency in Spanish and English

Other Requirements

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  
  This includes Microsoft Cloud Background Check: pass upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years professional experience producing regulatory reports such as Europe’s DSA and UK’s OSA or equivalent
• 5+ years experience with SQL, data modeling, ETL, real-time pipelines and analytics platforms (Azure Data Warehouse, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, etc)
• 5+ years experience with Microsoft & Azure tools, including PowerBI, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Explorer, Azure Synapse or equivalent
• 5+ years experience owning large data sets with anomaly/outlier detection, data quality and validation
• 2+ years professional experience developing and maintaining large-scale distributed backend services using cloud-native platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
• Experience owning data analysis for both consumer and enterprise customers
